Notes

  • CAD (Niles)
    • Finished El Toro

  • Second Robot (Niles, Jane, David B., Donald, Will)
    • Starting to construct El Toro fenders and mounts

  • Floor (Will)
    • Cut for first robot

  • Electronics (Ryan Lee, Kevin)
    • Working on vision system
    • Trying to stabilize image
    • Reading up on the hot goal in the manual (how it works _exactly_)
    • 2014 Vision Sample Code looks useful for writing vision in Java, rather than depending on RoboRealms

  • El Toro (Roche, Alipour)
    • Working on window motor mount
    • Platform is built, needs to be mounted
    • May need gear reduction — concern that the tension on the belt is quite heavy

  • Catapult Gearbox (Cynthia, Wells, Battis)
    • Cranked out faceplates for the dogbox
    • Have all the parts… need to assemble it
    • Holes in both chassises for the gearmotor
    • Working on 2″ angles to mount winch on

  • Catapult Pivot (David E., Wells)
    • Fiddling with EMT, trying to work out kinks
    • Target for completion tomorrow

  • Shopping List
    • 93.5″ x .5″ bandsaw blade (whatever is recommended for aluminum)
    • Reflective tape (4″ x lots… 5 yards)
    • 2″ x 1/8″ aluminum stock
    • 8x M4-9 flathead bolts (probably coarse)

Priorities

Must

These will happen no matter what

  1. Drive
  2. Herd
  3. Score >= 6 pts
  4. Bumpers
  • Do this first week, while prototypers prototype
  • Documentation

Should

Prioritize, try to get to as many as possible

  1. Maneuverable (drive train and practice)
  • Mecanum wheels
  • Hold (hardware) a. with potential to shoot if that system comes online b. Loading (hardware) — might not even need this
  • Shoot 8’ (hardware)
  • Some aiming (software)
  • Second robot for driving practice/thinkin’

If Time Permits

Reach goals

  1. Catch
  2. Differential power settings
  3. Vision system
  4. Modular goalie arm (sub 30 lb, replace shooter at competition)

Housekeeping

  • Clean up after yourself
  • Help teammates clean up after themselves
  • We don’t leave until we scrum… we don’t scrum until the shop is clear
  • Half-finished projects go on shelves, not the floor
  • Scrap is only useful if it’s stock, stock is only useful if it’s organized
